How to Keep Your Jewelery Looking New

When you first buy a piece of jewellery, whether it be a costume necklace or a precious gold ring, it's always bright with any stones untarnished and sparkling. But how do you keep it that way?

Well if you follow these top tips, your jewellery will stay beautiful:

1. Store your jewellery pieces apart so they don't get tangled- we love silk jewellery wraps for their functionality and touch of boudoir glamour.

2. Make sure your costume jewellery avoids contact with abrasive chemicals such as nail varnish, perfume and hairspray, as these can cause it to quickly tarnish or become discoloured.

3. Keep any pieces with precious or semi-precious stones way from direct sunlight to avoid fading. Nothing ruins a piece of jewellery like faded stones that were once bright and beautiful.

4. To keep pearls scratch free make sure you wear them alone, as other materials such as silver or enamel can damage a pearls fine make up.

5. A nice tip for removing dust from pieces is to gently blow it away using a hairdryer on a cool setting, or a soft lint free cloth always brightens jewellery up.

6. Examine your jewellery pieces regularly to make sure settings are holding stones in place tightly and clasps are joining properly.

7. Never clean your silver jewellery with abrasive or harsh cleaners, simple water is enough to make it shine again, and doesn't damage your jewellery.
