Getting Creative With Vintage Jewelery

If you collect vintage jewelery or if you are thinking about starting a vintage jewelery collection, you need to read this now! Being a vintage clothing and accessory lover for many years I have amassed quite the collection of jewelery and over the years I have found that there are many different ways to get the most use out of my collection.

Personalizing any item of your clothing with vintage jewelery is a great way to completely individualize any outfit and it is especially great if you want to look different from everyone else and stay ahead in the style stakes.

The first great way to make the most of your accessories is to think outside the box. For example; that vintage brooch you own, instead of wearing it on your jacket, try pinning it on your hat or maybe use it to keep your scarf closed together.

However the vintage jewelery item that you will give you the most variety, is a pair of clip on earrings. You can use clip on earrings to add style to many different items in your wardrobe, instantly updating your look! Here's a few different ideas
  1. Clip the earrings on to the front of a shoe, this works best on shoes that are plain with a block color.
  2. You can slip the clip on through a button-hole in any coat or cardigan to make it look like a fancy button
  3. Most clip ons have a small hole which is perfect for stringing a chain through to make a necklace.
  4. They easily clip on to any hair band or ribbon, or even straight into the hair.
The other great thing about vintage earrings is if you happen to lose one you can still use the other as I have done by sticking them into a knitted hat. Perfect for glamourizing your winter look! You can also bring it to a local jeweler and get him to make it into your very own unique ring.

Don't forget that when vintage shopping, even the odd bow detail, loose buttons, or beads found will probably cost you nothing and look great when sewn onto anything from hats to cardigans.
